Hmmm

I know I’ve already mentioned how I feel about the current curtain-making festival that has begun at the treehouse. I need something to get me through. And I haven’t been to the shops since my visitors left, so ingredients are limited…

Brownies will get me through. I hope.

115g butter

240g caster sugar

3 eggs

80g flour

70g cocoa

1 tsp baking powder

125g nuts (I used walnuts) roughly chopped

Preheat oven to 165 degrees c.

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs.

Sift flour, cocoa and baking powder, add to wet ingredients, mix well. Add nuts.

Bake in a lined slice tin for 45-50 mins-don’t overcook, they are better sticky than dry.

Boil the jug.

Sit and stare at the curtain drops you cut last night. Wonder how the heck you make pinch pleats. Also wonder when you are going to do this while the baby is feeding from you all the time and not sleeping much.

Go to internet, planning to look this up. The pinch pleats, that is.

Look at trashy websites, post on blog and eat brownies instead.

  2. Oh, so yummy. Trying to be good and not make delicious baked goods.

  3. if it were me i wouldn’t make it to the brownie stage – even without small and demanding interlopers. instead, it’d be: bundle up pre-cut curtain drops into depressing wardrobe pile. store in wardrobe for next 3 years until wrinkles are permanent. think to self every cold night until then “must get those curtains out and sewn. yes. will just take a quick nap to steel self for pinch-pleating.”

    and you know how that story ends!
